North Korea
Missile launch (April 2, 2024)
France strongly condemns North Korea’s launch of an intermediate-range ballistic missile on April 2 – the latest flagrant violation of UN Security Council resolutions.
France assures the Republic of Korea and Japan of its full solidarity. France urges North Korea to immediately cease its destabilizing actions, comply with its international obligations without delay, and return to the negotiating table so that it can engage in a process leading to the complete, verifiable, irreversible dismantlement of its nuclear and ballistic programs.
Might EU members issue a joint statement on the strike against humanitarian workers in Gaza ?
As the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs said yesterday, France strongly condemns the Israeli strike. The protection of humanitarian workers must be guaranteed in all circumstances, in accordance with international humanitarian law. France calls for strict compliance with international humanitarian law and for the immediate, safe and unimpeded flow of aid. The European Council reiterated this obligation in the conclusions of its meeting on March 21 and 22. We demand the full implementation of UN Security Council resolution 2728 and an immediate, lasting ceasefire that guarantees the protection of all civilians and a massive influx of humanitarian aid.
The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and the European Commissioner for Crisis Management spoke out yesterday about the death of seven members of the humanitarian team from World Central Kitchen. They specifically demanded that the Israeli authorities swiftly fulfill the commitment they made to carry out “a thorough investigation and ensure accountability for those who are responsible.”
